Week 5 - Entrusting myself to God

Welcome to this Friday evening meditation.

 I try to become still and quiet within myself. I adopt a relaxed but attentive position and I become aware of my breathing.

 I place myself in the presence of our loving God who is gazing at me with mercy and unconditional love.

Theme:

I see my life as it really is. In his own way, God is at work in my life. Everything that there is in my life, light and dark, can be entrusted to Him.

What I might wish to ask for

That my trust in God may grow

That I can entrust myself to Him.

That I may become intimate with God.

Music: The Deer’s Cry (Arvo Pärt)

 Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in me, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me,
Christ with me.

Uit Psalm 103:

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
    and all that is within me,
    bless his holy name.….
4 who redeems your life from the Pit, ….
     so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

 From which circumstances, which situation, would I like to be redeemed so that I could feel young and strong again: my youth renewed?

*

8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
    slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. ….
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
    nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
    so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
    so far he removes our transgressions from us.

I imagine a really wide arc – just like a rainbow – as arms which are outstretched towards me ….. how do I react?

*

13 As a father has compassion for his children,
    so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him.
14 For he knows how we were made;
    he remembers that we are dust.

15 As for mortals, their days are like grass;
    they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
    and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting

Bless the Lord, O my soul.

“As for mortals, …. they flourish like a flower of the field” …. I allow myself to stand amongst the flowers of the field, so as I am, so as I am feeling at the moment.
